We purchased our first home in Baltimore, MD, within the neighbor of Remington during May 2005. It was a cute 2 story, with full basement, 2BR 1B, and enclosed front porch. This blog documents our work on the house and life during that time. A project we will never forget :)

almost 2 months in...

so we had a productive weekend.. tho quite tiring... took some time off fri night to get together with some friends...

we took another 3 loads to the dump... we took out the old furnace... it was heavier than thought... also took out hte old duct work, an old filing cabinet, misc trash... we started taking up the kitchen floor... the floors underneath are in great condition... we were so happy to see that... the duct guy had secured the ducts to the floor we were planning on removing so we had to adjust the way the ducts were secured to the floor... the floors are going to come pretty easy... no glue to sand through!! yeah...

we also got a good start on the framing... we framed out the entire upstairs bathroom... and started the framing for the bedroom wall... we have had our share of mistakes but all in all it is running smoothly...

it will be a good week.... tonight we will meet with the a/c guys to finish the job... running the coolant and power lines to the a/c unit... securing it to the concrete slab... hooking everything up... while brian focuses on that with the a/c guys im planning on getting as much of the floor up as i can... and moving things around to make space for storage once we start moving in... then we need to really think about where to place all the electrical outlets and switches... tomorrow we will go to my uncles house for dinner and he will give us the lowdown on what and where we need in order to follow code...

its always something... all you can think of when youre doing other tasks is once were framing ill be satisfied... well now were framing and all i can think is... once we have plumbing started ill be happy... its always something...

Had some tense moments with the duct guy... recipricating saw doesn't work well on 100 year old floors !! He did a much better job on the other holes.. Posted by Hello

More duct work shots... after adding the half bath downstairs, we now have to move the 1st floor return... Posted by Hello

The Furnace and Case Coil are tied in and will be finished Monday 6-27. Condenser unit will be placed outside, anchored to the concrete slab.. Posted by Hello

Well, After our friend Shorty came by and straightened us up on the framing.. we tore down the work we had done and we now have a good start on two square walls Posted by Hello
