We purchased our first home in Baltimore, MD, within the neighbor of Remington during May 2005. It was a cute 2 story, with full basement, 2BR 1B, and enclosed front porch. This blog documents our work on the house and life during that time. A project we will never forget :)

a window!! now we have a door and a window!! Posted by Picasa

the french doors bring in some great light and the floors look great as is... except for a few small spots... starting to look like a home :) Posted by Picasa

we stayed later than expected to finish the window framing... its amazing once you get doing something- your desire to finish the task at hand is so much greater than your desire to rest... even if it is 11pm...  Posted by Picasa

had to cut our a little bit of the plumbers work... not much tho...  Posted by Picasa

Moving In...

well, we are finally moving in!!! countdown 6 days... we were happy to see our friends sandor and annie are also moving into their place... they were so generous to donate their make-shift closet to protect our clothes from dust... their place is looking great...

so much work done over the past week... as you can see from the photos brian and shorty did such great work!! we are only a hot minute away from being completely finished all framing on the 1st floor... this week we will focus on getting the place ready for move in day and packing up/getting out of the apartment... it will be nice to not pay a rent and a mortgage! :)

alright well off to bed... prepare for another long week...

repaired floor... after the stove and cabinets are in place there will be a small open area between the cabinets and wall... that is where we plan to have the tile mosaic... i cant wait :) Posted by Picasa

home sweet home... this is what we will be living in... believe it or not we are excited!! Posted by Picasa

making progress...

well we are rolling on the framing thanks to shorty and brian... brian has taken 3 days off from work and shorty is coming over to help us out big time... today brian and shorty framed the ceiling in the kitchen... i walked in and could tell it was a challenge... it looked so nice as you can see in the photos... they could not make it level (nothing in the house is level or square) so they made sure it was flat...

brian also repaired the floor in the corner of the kitchen... we have decided to do a tile mosaic... im excited about doing that... i cant say that i have been too much help around the house the past couple of days... my efforts have been primarily focused on packing up the apartment as move in day it 7.31... just 10 days away!!

on the slate for tomorrow is finishing the remaining ceiling on the first floor, framing out the basement stairs, the kitchen back wall, the kitchen door... i think that sounds like enough for one day...

it is amazing to see the work they have done in one day... cant wait to see what it looks like at the end of friday :)

Progress smogress

Plumber is coming saturday july.16th to rough in all the plumbing... We've been boxing some things up and hope to move in in two weeks... Progress will slow as we spend a little more time thinking about wedding stuff, and trying to re-gain some momentum... Being able to shower and use the toilet will be a major accomplishment !!

More wood floor exposed.. just a small portion left where we have 2x4s laying on the floor Posted by Picasa

Up close sunflowers... Posted by Picasa

The sunflowers took off so well.. they are beautiful and about 7ft tall. Garden judging takes place in a couple weeks.. I've got a feeling we'll get some recognition. Posted by Picasa

Beth built the wall behind the fridge.. our first wall in the kitchen... we will be consulting Shorty soon about how to frame out around the windows and door in the kitchen.. and about the wall under the stairs and door to the basement.... Posted by Picasa
