We purchased our first home in Baltimore, MD, within the neighbor of Remington during May 2005. It was a cute 2 story, with full basement, 2BR 1B, and enclosed front porch. This blog documents our work on the house and life during that time. A project we will never forget :)

Happy Couple... we are still going through all the photos from Sam, our photographer, all our friends, all our family.. quit the task.. but we'll have a best of soon, and we'll gladly send out a CD copy to anyone who wants one. We'll be ordering some from Sam once we pick out our favorites.. Posted by Picasa

Friends and Family 9-22-05.. Everything turned out perfect on this day. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful time. Thanks to all our friends and family for joining us on this day and helping us to start our new life together. Posted by Picasa

Autumn Equinox... What a wonderful day for us... Historic Londontown and Gardens Posted by Picasa

Pwr

The electrical in the front room is pretty much complete. A little more work and we'll be ready for drywall... might hold off on that for now though. Still need to finish electrical in the bathroom and mount some light fixtures... It's coming along.. Plan to be in that bedroom before it gets cold...

The downstairs kitchen and half bath vent, the upstairs bathroom fan vent, and the upstairs poopy pipe vent... Man, we are glad these are all vented now =) I'll have to put a screen over the top of the vents so no small creatures decide to go down them Posted by Picasa

The upstairs bathroom fan vent... pretty fancy stuff Posted by Picasa

Gregg came over to help on this beautiful day... It was the Baltimore Marathon day, which just so happened to totally surround us... meaning you couldn't drive anywhere all day Posted by Picasa

Cutting holes in the roof... what fun ! Posted by Picasa

Looking west toward Reservoir Hill. If you knew what to look for, you'd see the castle structure at the corner of the reservoir. Our other property is about 3 block south of the two big building off in the distance Posted by Picasa

More outside window finish work... Its not Italian craftmanship, but probably the best on the block... No need for fancy trim here =) Posted by Picasa

The outside finishing work came out better than I had hoped.. Its primed, caulked, and ready to paint. Posted by Picasa

two new windows installed... Gregg Scharstein came over to lend a hand... Thanks ! Posted by Picasa

Insulation is up and the strapping for the ceiling sheetrock is started Posted by Picasa

Our trashy neighbors... they collect trash and harbor rats... what a life. Who needs to fix holes in the roof when you can have such a cool system of gutter inside your house to bring the water out ! The disconnected downspout also adds a nice touch when it rains hard and starts to flood our neighbors basement and stir up all the trash under the end of the gutter. That laundry had been out for a couple days. Guess it got another good washing outside in the rain... Posted by Picasa

Progress !!!

Pictures to come...

This past weekend we installed two new windows in the front bedroom, built the front wall in the bedroom, cut three holes in the roofs to vent bathroom duct/pipes and downstairs kitchen/half bath pipes, and sealed all the holes back. Gregg Scharstein came over to help on Saturday.

Finishing work on the windows went better than I had hoped. All the joints are caulked, and all the wood primed for paint.

We found some new leaks in the roof after our 3 day monsoon.. good timing I guess, before we put up drywall !... So we think we are going to have the whole roof resurfaced.. We are going gather names of roofers from people, and get quotes from three different sources.

We are on schedule to move into the front bedroom before it gets... brr.. cold !

Here we go...

Well the wedding and honeymoon was all we could have wished for. Now its time to get moving on the house. We've started putting up insulation in the front bedroom. Soon we'll start the 'strapping' on the roof joist for the ceiling drywall. Then finish the wiring.

Our other house planning is picking up so we might have to spend some time on that...

Momiji is learning not to chew !
